Dan Talks About the Invasion of Pearl Harbor and the December 7 Class

Join us for the 82nd Anniversary of the Japanese Attack at Pearl Harbor.  The sudden surprise military attack of our U.S. naval base by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service comprised of warplanes, aircraft carriers, destroyers and midget submarines took place on a Sunday morning at 8 am on December 7, 1941.

Managing Board Member Dan Regenold will walk you through the moments of that day for the sailors, the soldiers, the pilots, the diplomats, and the politicians.  Learn about the shock that the bombing produced in civilians and the confusion of US commanders.   What happened between the Governments of the United States and Japan that could have caused this devastation that ended in the killing of 2,403 men.

Was the attack a repercussion of America’s military buildup in the Philippines, or the ceasing of oil exports to Japan in July 1941.   Did President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s foreign policy team miss key signs which might have caused the largest foreign policy misstep in America’s history?  Was Roosevelt’s refusal to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Konoe a factor?  Learn about the role of General Douglas MacArthur who was named commander of U.S. Army Forces in the Far East!   What was America’s response to the attack?

17 times we were warned about a possible invasion in the weeks leading up to Pearl Harbor.   Did We Listen?   Learn about the key players involved, Yamamoto, Hirohito, Tojo, FDR, Jimmy Doolittle, Harry Truman and countless other heroes.

We will watch the military strike unfold blow-by-blow and take place as a complete surprise.  And we will also learn about the Japanese and American perspectives of this historical drama.   Who in the Government was held accountable after-the-fact for what happened at Pearl Harbor?  Tonight, hear the story of Pearl Harbor and the details and what really happened in a way you have never heard it before.

Veterans will be recognized at this event.
